Uber is ready to compete with other food delivery services like Seamless, Eat24 and Postmates. Postmates has a similar business model to UberEats, connects customers with local couriers (In Uber’s case is drivers), to deliver goods from any restaurant or store in a city. UberEats will offer customers a different menu per day. According to the Verge, lunch foods will range from $9 to $12 while dinner meals will go from $10 to $15. The delivery fee is an extra $3 in Chicago and $4 in New York City. With more people moving to urban centers and the demand for food delivery increasing, the service is likely to expand to more cities soon. In 2013, takeout and delivery held an 18 percent market share of the fast food industry. That year, 60 percent of Americans admitted to ordering food for takeout or delivery at least once a week, showing demand for the market. According to Uber the response to UberEATS has been positive.
